Developing Supervisory Excellence (also known as Supervisors Academy) is a professional development series for aspiring, new, and experienced supervisors built upon the latest theory and research along with hands-on practice of the skills supervisors need. Combining lecture, discussion, self-exploration, and skill-building, class instructors will provide learning opportunities to help explore the rewards and challenges of supervision. This professional development opportunity is brought to our members for FREE.
Along with live classes, Supervisors Academy students are also assigned online courses to provide a broad introduction to employment practices, liability, knowledge and prevention. Topics include the Americans with Disabilities Act, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, and Workers’ Compensation.
Supervisors Academy classes meet every three to four weeks, September through April and are hosted at NBSIA. Each class focuses on a different topic, as listed below:
Supervisors Academy is open to all employees for our Member districts who are interested in becoming supervisors or who are already supervising staff. Supervisors approval is required for registration .
